CANINE DISTEMPER AND RABIES

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

LDFC CANNOT RECEIVE YOUR FERRET WITHOUT A SIGNED CONTRACT AND PROOF OF CURRENT VACCINATIONS OR PROOF OF VACCINE ALLERGY.

NO EXCEPTIONS!

Rabies & Distemper vaccinations are required for boarding unless your ferret(s) have had previous allergic reaction to the vaccine(s).  Rabies is not usually a threat to indoor pets and  must have direct contact (bitten) in order to contract the disease.  Canine distemper however, IS serious and always fatal in ferrets.  The virus is airborne and highly contagious.

I understand that a ferret with a previous allergic history to a vaccine cannot have future vaccinations because it also poses a life threatening risk.  LDFC will still care for your ferret but it is mandatory that you understand the virus and the risk to your ferret, however slight it might be.  LDFC also requires written proof from your vet of an allergic vaccine reaction.  Your signature is required to show you have read and understand the canine distemper and rabies risk to your ferret.

LDFC is not professionally or personally responsible for any ferrets that becomes ill or die from contracting rabies or distemper.
